Route 2,978,920 – powered by www.bikemap.net

This was supposed to be a day off. Anne was going to take a bus to visit Chenonceau Castle about 13 km away but the bus tickets were sold out. So both of us decided to cycle there. The route was signed, but perhaps not the most logical as it left Amboise by climbing back up the big hill we came down yesterday. We found a much flatter return route by following our noses! It would be a day without luggage which we thought would be fun and easy. We didn’t realize there would be as many hills as there were to climb on the way there and on the way back. It followed a regular road with a bit of traffic as a bicycle path has not yet been built.Chenonceau is quite fascinating. It is thick with tourists and busloads of people coming in to see the Château. But it is a lovely Château and you do get a tour to see the inside for only €12 which is one of the less expensive Castles that we could visit.
